Aya -- Beautiful Alone

He makes scowling an art form...

Who better to start with than the very drool-worthy, revenge-seeking Aya? With striking auburn hair and ivory skin, he really makes a beautiful picture. But there is just so much more than his looks. For one thing, I would absolutely die for an older brother who has such devotion to his sister. How often do you see love portrayed to such extremes that one would go around killing people to avenge a sister's accident?

Another thing that draws me to him is his passion. He may not look it, but he's passionate in everything he does. Every mission he undertakes he goes all out. It's all or nothing when he's concerned. He hates his job, but he does it for the most part (thinks of the episode with Aya and Botan and snickers) unhesitatingly.

The only beef I might have with him is his oxymoronic belief that he is not worthy of being loved. He is allowed to love others such as his sister, but others aren't allowed to love him, making him a complete enigma to anyone who doesn't understand him. When his perfect glacial façade finally cracks, it is then that I feel for this particular character. He seemed to have finally got stepped on the threshold of sanity, only to have it yanked out from underneath him. For when Aya-chan finally wakes up, he is not there. And at the end of the series, he is shown to be still in Weiss, slaving and fighting for a world where justice will be served.
