If there is one character I cannot empathize with at all, but love anyway, it has to be Omi Tsukiyono. With his butterscotch hair, big blue eyes, and very genki personality, one would expect him to be completely innocent to the outside world. But as the series progresses, one eventually sees a darker, more subdued side to this happy seventeen year old. Unlike most kids his age, or even twenty-year olds, he's seen more death, been let down more times than any person should, and has made many trips to hell and back again, metaphorically speaking.

In his profile, it is quoted that he had joined Weiss to protect the elderly. Well, I don't see many elderly people that Omi hangs around with. Perhaps it refers to his team mates? In a sense, they are considerably older than he is, all are out of school, and in a way, Omi DOES protect them by investigating a mission via his trusty computer, so they don't wind up in more danger than they already are.
